Our History
The project began in 2004 with the purchase of 500 acres of farmland in northeast Tanzania near the city of Arusha. Like most countries in Africa, Tanzania needs doctors, engineers, teachers and a multitude of educated people. Star High School will help prepare students to become educated, tolerant, and productive adults. Education is the only sure and effective way to create positive change. Star High School is one of the efforts to address in-depth the three most insidious enemies facing the people of Tanzania and all parts of Africa, namely, poverty, sickness, and ignorance.
Many people have claimed this school as their own which is comforting and assuring that Star Academy is the desire and dream of many people to have the children of the world be given the gift of education. Just to name a few:
• The Institute of The Apostles of Jesus Missionaries that accepted the vision and approved the school as an official ministry ensuring its growth, expansion and continuity.
David and Martha Showers who sat in our first board meeting and guided us step by step in the realization of the school. They also contributed financially so we could purchase the land and build the initial buildings.
Fr. Mike Mushi , Fr. Dennis Mroso, Fr. Paul Mroso, and Mr. Ngolo who helped with the acquisition of the property. Fr. Mike who accepted the challenge as the first administrator and has served in this capacity for 10 years and continues to this day doing an outstanding job.
